Bourbon Blowjobs and Pool Lounge Chairs

Bourbon Blowjobs and Pool Lounge chairs

A couple of weeks after my first visit to Los Angeles I boarded a plane and flew back to paradise – Back to Hollywood and sunshine. Days filled with bourbon, blowjobs and pool lounge chairs.

February 11, 1993, I arrived back in LA. When I got off the plane, Lemmy was waiting for me right at the gate. It was evident from the big smile on his face that he was as excited to see me as I was of seeing him.

As I was getting my luggage off the luggage pickup turnstile, a couple of guys recognized Lemmy and asked if he would pose for a picture with them and sign autographs. He agreed and I stood off to the side and watched as they snapped photos and chatted. The two fans kept looking at me as if they were thinking” Oh Wow that must be Lemmy’s girlfriend”.

This was a big turn on for me. (Please don’t judge me. I was a bumpkin.) I was arriving in L.A. to meet my rock star boyfriend for the weekend and my mind could barely settle down to enjoy it. A long black limo was waiting for us to take us to the apartment. I was so excited! The limo just added to my Rock Star fantasy. I don’t think I had ever been in a limo. Here I am a girl from rural Ohio who barely left the county, let alone traveled out of the state – in awe. I was a true hillbilly visiting Beverly Hills.

Oh the tiny Underwear

The first thing that I learned about Lemmy was that he only wears tiny underwear when he’s at home. No matter if he has company or not.  He goes out to get the mail in tiny underwear! He always says, “They’re swim trunks”.

Out to do laundry in tiny underwear – takes out the trash in his underwear AND just doesn’t care. Nothing on his feet, no robe, just teeny tiny underwear. Lucky for him he has a good enough body to pull this move off. And I just can’t imagine anyone going up to him to complain. The man is the king of his castle and carries himself that way. He is going to be comfortable no matter what the case.

Lemmy and I spent the next day lounging by the pool. In typical rock star fashion Lemmy asked me to give him a blowjob by the pool – the apartment complex pool!

I said, “all of your neighbors and people in the surrounding buildings will see”. He replied” here’s how it’s done; I will lay on my stomach on the lounge chair and slide my cock in between the slots. You can lay under the chair on the deck and suck me off”.

He assured me that an ex-girlfriend used to do this often and they never were seen or had complaints from the neighbors

I looked around and all I could see were windows and the possibility of being seen. My mind flashed to my Mom getting a call from the Los Angeles police that I had been busted for indecent exposure.

I flatly refused to do this, there was no way that I could be persuaded to suck him off under a pool lounge chair in plan public sight. Lemmy was very understanding, extremely disappointed, but understanding.

This was February and back home in Ohio it was freezing below zero and here I was lying by the pool sipping cocktails. I was in heaven.

VALENTINE’S DAY WITH LEMMY !!

Valentine’s Day came and Lemmy had a dentist appointment. When he returned home from getting his new teeth, he had a big smile on his face and this look of mischief.

He came into the apartment and swiftly went into the bedroom. He was preparing a valentine present for me. That first Valentines’ days Lemmy gave me Marzipan candies, chocolate truffles and a red sweatshirt that said “Open Me First”.

Valentines Day present from Lemmy. So romantic!

We spent the evening watching the movie “Dr Zhivago” – so romantic – something of which most people wouldn’t expect of Lemmy.

I spent the whole of four days in L.A. with Lemmy and never once left his apartment except to go to the pool.

On this first long weekend visit to stay at Lemmy’s I rarely slept and ate little. Lemmy never has much real food in his refrigerator. He always has Ben and Jerry’s® Chocolate Chip cookie dough ice cream, Ruffles® Sour cream and cheddar potato chips, lots of Coke®, maybe some cheddar cheese and Frosted Flakes® if you are lucky. Because of the speed habit, food is not a priority. I really do not remember eating that much on my visits to Lemmy’s just lots of drinking and a steak dinner here and there.

I was amazed at the amount of alcohol that Lemmy could consume and that he could drink at all hours of the morning, day or night. If he slept during the night he would wake up and first thing – ask for ice to put in the drink that he had left beside the bed the night before. He would have corn flakes and a Jack Daniels and coke (The Lemmy), or poached eggs with a Jack and coke. It didn’t matter what the meal consisted of; he had that drink always.

Snow Snow Snow

I returned to Ohio on February 15th. Lemmy hired a Limo to take me to the airport. I will never become jaded to the Limo experience. I don’t care how many times I ride in a long black limo it will always be special.

When I arrived back in Ohio, a major snowstorm had just passed through the area. My car had been sitting in the airport parking lot and it was nearly buried in snow. What a cruel reminder of my present home state. I was in shock. Having just spent days baking in the California sunshine under palm trees, I just wanted to climb back on the plane and go back.

I was totally unprepared for snow and had to improvise snow removal by using a flipped open cassette case to scrape the snow and ice from my car. My fingers were like blocks of ice as I scraped and chipped at the ice. As I drove the 3 hours back to Canton, Ohio in a blinding white out, I kept thinking “I have to get out of this place.”

The Postcard that started it all…

Journal Entry 03/01/1993: Lemmy called from Los Angeles.

I called Lemmy a week later and he was too busy to talk. He called me back over a week later on March 10th . That was the last that I would hear from him until I received my first postcard on June 16, 1993.

That first postcard was sent from Paris, France and it would begin my love of postcards. I could live vicariously through these cards. I could travel the world.

When I went to my mailbox and a card had arrived it was like having Lemmy there telling me a joke or begging for forgiveness. These cards would give me hope and happiness throughout the years. I would begin to believe that Lemmy had radar because he would send these cards at my lowest most desperate moments. I would go to my mailbox, find a card and wonder “how does he know that I really needed this.” It could be a bad day in the office or creditors bothering me, it didn’t matter; he somehow knew. If we were fighting and I had vowed never to speak to him again, the cards would arrive at my weakest moments and I would long to be with him or to talk to him at the very least.

Postcard #1 BACK PARIS from Lemmy
PC#1 BACK PARIS -“Hi Debra Hope you’re OK and getting enough Protein!! I wish you were getting some of mine!! I think I should be home around mid-July. So I’ll invite you over, if you like, when I come back. Meanwhile, we will be at: ScandicCrown Hotel, Julius-Wegelerstr. W5400, Koblenz Germany on 17 June if you write? Lemmy XXX

When I arrived home from work on July 23rd my Mom told me that Lemmy had called. I hated missing those phone calls. They were so few and far between.

LEMMY MISSES ME !!

The next day I called Lemmy. He said that he missed me and wanted me to fly back out to Los Angeles to visit. I told him that I would be living in L.A next month, but he still wanted me to fly out. So, a few days later I packed my bags and flew to L.A. for a 4 day stay.

It was great telling my friends “Oh, I’m flying out to L.A. for the weekend.” I hate admitting that, but coming from where I was coming from I needed a little ego boost. I hate admitting that I loved that it made me feel special and in with the “jet set”. Ha, like Lemmy is jet set. He is so far from the “jet set” type. And so far on my little trips to L.A., I had not even seen the outside of Lemmy’s apartment building. But my friends didn’t know that.

On July 31st I flew back out to L.A. No black stretch limo this time, but I did have a very nice town car and driver waiting for me. I get so excited over the smallest things. When I came off the plane and through the gate, the driver was standing there with my name on a sign. Every time I had flown in the past I always wondered who and what kind of people the uniformed drivers with name signs were waiting for, and here I had become one of them. Seeing my name on that sign gave me such a high.

Meeting Motorhead

August 1st was the first time that I met the rest of the guys in Motorhead; Mikkey Dee, Phil Campbell, and Wurzel.

Motorhead was recording Bastards at a recording studio in Hollywood and Lemmy took me along to hang out while he laid down vocal tracks. I was in awe of the recording studio. Just like in the movies. This was a very surreal time for me. I was pinching myself periodically to make sure that I was really living this.

Lemmy used to say, “How can you stand to sit and watch us record?” “It has to be really boring” But I loved every moment. Watching a song evolve and change. Even though the same song or parts of the same song are repeating over and over and over, it’s still exciting to watch. Maybe if I did it for many, many years the excitement would wear thin, but this was my first time, so I could barely contain myself.

The guys in the band and the recording staff were so cool and nice to me. Phil was so amazingly easy to talk to. He has a manner about him that makes you feel as though you’ve known him all your life. He made me feel like a true Motorhead family member immediately.

Wurzel was harder to get to know. Actually I really don’t feel as though I ever really got comfortable around him. He did share his beer stash with me, and we talked about the different kinds of beer that we liked and disliked, but that was really it.

After Hours Play Time

I spent a lot of time talking to Jamie the guitar tech. He was such a cutie. Soon we were talking about everything under the sun from music to our deepest sexual desires and experiences. He made me feel really comfortable and welcome.

Late in the evening everyone had left except Lemmy, Jamie, John the recording engineer and me. Fun playtime in the recording studio. Lemmy and Jamie were playing and singing different bits and just creating music and recording it. We stayed late into the night and it was the perfect time.

Bourbon Blowjobs and Pool Lounge chairs and Recording Studios

During my second day hanging out in the studio, I was sitting on the couch in the studio lounge drinking a beer when Lemmy and the guys in the band came in. Someone laid a couple of cool looking posters on the floor in front of me. Lemmy said “These are the options that we have for the CD cover, which one do you like the best?” My replied “OH no, I have no opinion when it comes to anything band related.” Lemmy said “It’s just cover art for a CD” I still refused to pick a favorite. I think the other guys in the band appreciated my stand. I absolutely hate to see girlfriends of band guys voice opinions on band business it truly seems out of place.

MISSED OPPORTUNITY TO APPEAR ON A MOTORHEAD ALBUM !!!

This recording day was my one and only chance to appear on a Motorhead CD and I blew it.

Everyone was hanging around the studio watching as Lemmy laid down vocal tracks. When the vocals were completed it was time to record the sound effects that would be used on the track Death or Glory.

Set up in the studio was this wooden bin filled with gravel that would create the sound of solders marching when walked on. Someone said “Hey Deb, you should join in. Go ahead and start marching.”

What was I thinking – What a fool I was? I was so nervous and didn’t want to make a fool of myself in front of these cool people that I had just met.

Lemmy said “Go ahead, just go into the studio and walk on the gravel, it will be fun”. He said, “This may be your only chance to be on an album”. I sat back and watched Jamie and the other guy’s march in the gravel and act silly.

Now I kick myself for not just going right in there and doing it.

UGH, I hate that shy side of myself that comes out every now and then. I always end up kicking myself later. Fear, that’s the thing to overcome in life, simple fear.

Extremely exciting and awesome is how I would describe hanging out in the studio. Drinking beer and watching the creative process is indescribable. A true privilege being invited into the Motorhead inner circle.

I was left behind at the apartment the next day; extremely hungover and disappointed.

While Lemmy and the boys had fun drinking beer and recording, I stayed in and watched “Dracula”. I flew home to Ohio the next day August 04.
